08 an hour 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago Assistant Librarian Under the direction of the Children's Librarian, serves as a team member to coordinate specialized service within the Children's department of Springville Public Library.
Performs work requiring a higher degree of knowledge of library practices.
The Assistant Librarian provides reference and reader's advisory services and will coordinate or assist in special services such as:
children's programming, collection development, outreach and other services.
Due to the nature of this work and library hours, evening and weekend work may be required.
Duties:
Reviews and orders children's books and materials.
Represents the library and makes financial decisions with minimum supervision.
Maintains the collection by evaluating and reordering damaged and/or missing items.
Creates, prepares, and implements library programs for the children and families, including story times and outreach events.
Produces various reports, utilizing the computer system, and takes needed action.
Searches for, writes and implements grants.
Plans and presents programs for the public.
Makes recommendations related to improving procedures.
Attends training as needed.
Provides instruction to library patrons and staff for automated systems, databases, computers and other technology.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
Preference given to those with a Masters in Library Science or pursuing further education in the Library Science field.
Must be adaptable to changing work hours.
Must be willing to work evenings and Saturdays.
Knowledge of the library's collection and reference materials and general library policies, practices and procedures.
Good communication and conflict management skills.
Demonstrate time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Utilize computer hardware and software in the performance of duties.
Skill in use of Microsoft Office programs and library-specific software.
Occasionally may lift materials up to 40 pounds.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
